LEATHER US MILITARY 1887 KRAG TRAPDOOR & SPRINGFIELD RIFLE SLING 1st Model FROG
July 19, 2019
Very nice looking sling overall. This is an original leather sling from a Krag or Trapdoor. This sling type can and was used on other rifles up to 1907 and beyond. It has very good brass hardware and very good leather. The keeper stitching is very strong as is the section that holds the two sling leather pieces together. The brass button has some dark and green tarnish. The frog is securely attached. The leather has medium and darker brown colors. The sling has a combination of smooth and surface wrinkles with very few minor hairline cracks and no noticeable surface cracking. There is a repair just below the button and it is very strong. The leather is soft and pliable. It measures approximately 67 1/4 inches. The backside of the leather looks very good. I will be posting more of these slings.
