US Army “doughboys” in WW1 were equipped with a specially designed leather rifle sling for use with the M-1903 Springfield. The sturdy M-1907 sling proved so successful that it was again issued during WW2 to carry both the Springfield and the M-1 Garand. This US Army USMC Marine WW1 WW2 SPRINGFIELD GARAND L-F CO M-1907 LEATHER RIFLE SLING is in very good condition, with some scattered darkening at front and back, some fairly deep stress cracks around the buckle holes at each end, some scattered verdigris to the brass buckles, and with some overall age wear evident (ALL pictured). Otherwise, the sling is in fine shape, with no other damage to the tough brown leather construction. Most interestingly, it boasts the classic brass sizing “claws”, features both of the original brown leather adjusting slides, and is stamped at the upper front with its maker and date, “L-F CO / 1918″. Original WWI Era US Army/USMC M1907 Leather Sling for the M1903 Springfield, M1918 BAR or M1917 Enfiled – Nice Condition. Ther are no visible markings or dates on the sling. This sling has the correct WWI Blackened Brass hooks. The sling is used, see photo’s for condition. The sling has both leather keepers. The leather is very soft and supple. There is some minor wrinkling and cracking on the surface of the leather. The leather has darken with age, but still retains most of that rich dark brown color. The stitching is all tight and intact. A few extra adjustment holes have been punched into the sling. This is an Original Functional WWI era Sling and would look great on a WWI era rifle. No visible markings on the sling. NOTE: this is a collectible item, suitable for a correct historic display. It is NOT recommened for actual use. This is the sling that was commonly used on the M1917 Enfield, the M1 Garand, the M1903 Springfield, the M1903A3 Springfield and the M1941 Johnson Rifles. Check out my other items. The sling is made from veg-tanned cow and American Bison. The leather used may have scratches, scars, brands, insect bites, indentations and scuffs. This adds to the uniqueness and beauty of each sling.
