US Army “doughboys” in WW1 were equipped with a specially designed leather rifle sling for use with the M-1903 Springfield. The sturdy M-1907 sling proved so successful that it was again issued during WW2 to carry both the Springfield and the M-1 Garand. This US Army USMC Marine WW1 WW2 SPRINGFIELD GARAND L-F CO M-1907 LEATHER RIFLE SLING is in very good condition, with some scattered darkening at front and back, some fairly deep stress cracks around the buckle holes at each end, some scattered verdigris to the brass buckles, and with some overall age wear evident (ALL pictured). Otherwise, the sling is in fine shape, with no other damage to the tough brown leather construction. Most interestingly, it boasts the classic brass sizing “claws”, features both of the original brown leather adjusting slides, and is stamped at the upper front with its maker and date, “L-F CO / 1918″. It sports a fully intact darkened brass central hinge, and is a fine example of a very rare, original. US Army USMC Marine WW1 WW2 SPRINGFIELD GARAND L-F CO M-1907 LEATHER RIFLE SLING.
