Indian War Era US Army Model 1873 Springfield Trapdoor Rifle Sling – 4th Pattern – Original – Very Nice Condition. This is the Later Shorter, 4th Pattern Sling, with the wide prong hook at one end and a brass stud loop at the other end. The sling is approximatley 1 1/4″ wide x 70″ long. The sling has the oval holes. This sling is made from a single length of leather, NOT the salvage civil war musket slings that were sewen together. The leather is soft and supple. Some wrinkling and minor surface cracks. No crazing in the leather. No breaks in the leather. It has the original sling keepers. Still has the original russett brown color. There are no visible manufacture markings on the sling. Faint inspector initals near the stud end. The sling is used, please see photo’s for condition. The age of the leather, will make the sling weaker than when it was new, and may not be able to support the weight of the weapon. Check out my other items. Some wrinkling and minor surface cracks in the leather, no crazing. It has the original sling keepers. Still has the original dark brown color. The sling is marked: Rock Island Arsenal.
