Pre-WWI Era French Army Mle 1866-74 Gras Rifle Leather Sling – Original – Very NICE Condition – RARE. Up for sale is a pre-WWI Era French Army Mle 1866-74 Gras Rifle Leather Sling. The leather is soft and supple. It has the leather keeper, brass buckle and brass stud. The are some minor surface cracks and wrinkling of the leather. The stitching is intact, no fraying. There are three notches cut into the lower edge of the sling, see photo. There are no markings or dates on the sling. Original slings for the Gras Rifle are very hard to find, especially in this condition. This sling is suitable for an historic display on your rifle. It is NOT recommended for actual usage. No rips or tears, some wrinkling or surface cracking in the leather. There are no markings or dates on the sling. The sling is approximately 50″ long x 1″ wide. It has a brass buckle and brass stud. NOTE: this is a collectible item, suitable for a correct historic display. It is NOT recommened for actual use. If you break it trying to use it, it is NOT returnable. This is the sling that was commonly used on the M1917 Enfield, the M1 Garand, the M1903 Springfield, the M1903A3 Springfield and the M1941 Johnson Rifles. Check out my other items.
