Swiss K31 K11 leather rifle sling with no makers mark. Likely a surplus item at some point. Sling shows significant wear and age which corresponds with it being a vintage item. No provenance can be ascertained since there are no visible markings present on the sling. Therefore, I relied upon common characteristics of the original Swiss K31 and K11 slings to verify it’s authenticity. Authentic, unissued, or “no markings” Swiss K31 and K11 leather rifle slings are relatively rare. While most original Swiss slings were stamped with the saddler’s maker mark, date, and army acceptance stamp, unmarked authentic slings exist, though many on the market today are quality reproductions. This one is definitely not. Key Features of the Original Design. Heavy-duty, vegetable-tanned cowhide, usually in a rich brown or reddish-brown color. Standard width is typically 1 1/8. Features an original steel or brass quick-detach claw/clip at the front (for the upper barrel band) and a standard sliding buckle for length adjustment.

This is a very nice looking 1 piece sling that measures approximately 69 ½ inches. It is very strong and the leather is firm but pliable. The color ranges from a medium brown to a darker brown throughout. The brass keeper is very strong and has some tarnish. About 19 inches inward, it is stamped E. And there looks to be additional stamped words above it but they are a little hard to read with the wrinkling. From the frog end at about 29 ½ inches there is an approximately 1 inch edge of the leather that is worn down about 5/16 at the most. There are 2 very nice leather keepers with strong stitching. The brass button is very nice. On that edge of the leather, it is stamped RAL. From that end, at 22 about 22 ½ inches, there is a spot were additional holes were made for the frog. The surfaceis a mixture of smooth and minor surface wrinkling with 4 of the frog holes having shallow surface cracking between them. Overall, this is a very nice and clean sling. For sale here is a great looking WW2 German Brown Leather K98 Rifle Sling. The sling is in good condition, but does show some age, drying, and patina. The leather is supple and strong, but does show some drying. The metal fittings are brass and show heavy green age. The brass pull stop is marked with a stylized maker mark. The side of the leather is marked with what appears to be a circular maker mark followed by a string of numbers that are mostly illegible. This is a great looking sling.
