The leather strap has a custom vintage look with an eagle and American flag artwork. Shoulder strap is 2.5 wide at widest point. Designed for 1″ sling swivels with 1″ tab at top and 1 wide strap. Sling has an adjustable length from 30″ to 44″. Sling swivels are not included. We start with premium 7/9 ounce natural vegetable tanned buffalo leather and laser engrave the desired design and shape. The edges are then beveled, finished, and slicked with gum tragacanth. It is finally assembled with black hardware including a Chicago Screw at the top and a Conway buckle for adjustments. The finish is varied due to natural grain of the leather and hand application of the finish, we will try to get it as close to the piece depicted in the photo as possible. As the leather is broken in, the bending and use of the leather creates natural wear marks, adding character and depth. This is a made to order item that takes several days to complete due to drying time. We can make any size, color, design, text, finish or hardware. They carried the classic M-1873 “Trapdoor” Springfield rifle on a specially designed “single claw” leather sling produced by Watervliet Arsenal. This US Army Indian Wars TRAPDOOR SPRINGFIELD WATERVLIET ARSENAL LEATHER RIFLE SLING is in good condition, with some overall drying, darkening, crazing, stiffening, wrinkling, and age wear evident (ALL pictured). Otherwise, the sling is in fine shape, with no other damage to the tough dark brown leather construction, which still remains somewhat pliant. Most interestingly, it boasts the classic darkened brass “single claw” at one end, which carries the inspector initials J. ” marked at the underside, sports the traditional sizing holes and leather adjustment slide, and is stamped at the sewn loop end with its maker, the famous “WATERVLIET / ARSENAL.
