Indian War Era US Army Model 1873 Springfield Trapdoor Rifle Sling – 5th Pattern – Original – Nice Condition. This is the 5th Pattern Sling, with the wide prong hook at one end and a brass stud loop at the other end. The sling is approximately 1 1/4″ wide x 65″ long. The sling has the oval holes. This sling is made from salvage civil war musket slings that were sewen together. The leather is soft and supple. Some wrinkling and minor surface cracks. No deep cracks or crazing. No breaks through the leather. It has the original sling keepers. Still has the original rich dark brown color. No visible markings on the sling. The sling is used, please see photo’s for condition. It has an extra adjustment hole in the sling for the brass stud. The age of the leather, will make the sling weaker than when it was new, and may not be able to support the weight of the weapon.
