I think it is fairly early given the delicate condition of the leather, and the fact that the button studs are leather and sewn in to the sling. There is a double line the length of the sling on both sides that may help with identification, and I think this was a lighter tan color at one point. I figured somewhere out there there is a person named Rich that would really love to have this. Handcrafted in Michigan by the late Charles Baker. Very nicely done leather tooling. This is an older piece but is in great condition and should last a very long time with proper care. Would make a great gift for a special occasion. It looks like you can take apart 2 of the rivets if you want to change the style of mounts on it. Appears like they screw together. This was on a Winchester model 70. It adjusts in length though. Covers nearly all the stock leaving hand area free. 10 sturdy shell holders are set in a angle for maximum area use allowing 5- 410’s up front and 5-45LC’s in rear or what ever combo you desire. Decorative lace and lanyard added both in cover and sling which is 12 oz leather of same. It might look complicated to install but isnt! Just lace on the bottom from front to back like a shoe. The sling is equipped to hold 5-410’s and 5 45LC’ too and lined. This combo is functional, comfortable, protective and pretty darn neat looking! Note: I can add initials too if desired at no charge!
