Indian War US Army Model 1873 Springfield Trapdoor Leather Rifle Sling 2 Piece
January 5, 2020
Vintage Indian War US Army Model 1873 Springfield Trapdoor Leather Rifle Sling. This is the very early 2 piece sewn together style that was made from leftover Civil War slings. What you see is exactly what you get. This sling measures just about 68 in length. The leather is fairly supple for as old as it is. It is missing the brass tab at the end and does have a crack that has a repair in that spot. (See pictures) Stitching is very good at sewn spot, brass hook at top seems a little frail. I do not see any makers marks but I could be looking in the wrong spot.
