Each leather service rifle sling is hand-stitched by Ron Brown. The sling is made from the highest quality leather available, Hermann Oak Leather; a company in business since 1881. All rifle slings are edged and creased; embossed with the Eagle Match Logo; and holes are numbered. All hardware is government spec; D-rings are oversized and parkerized; and frog hooks are made by Waterbury Buckle, the oldest government contractor still making buckles in the United States. All slings are 54 but easily cut to desired length. In order to make your Ron Brown Rifle Sling more limber, these suggestions may help: Using a round, smooth surface, like on a coat hanger rod or round table leg, run the sling back and forth on the flesh side, vigorously, as though you are polishing a pair of shoes. This will break down the fibers in the leather so they will be more limber and flexible. Ron Brown does this to every sling before it leaves his factory, but because leather is a natural product, each piece differs from the other and it may need more attention. With use, all leather will limber, butt his will bring faster results. Do not use Neets-foot oil on top of Ron Brown’s Aussie conditioner because it affects the leather negatively. When the slings leave their workshop, they are all ready to go and should be good for years. Customized Handmade Leather Rifle sling with Tombstone inspired inscription. The leather strap has a vintage look with a rustic antique finish. Shoulder strap is 3 wide at widest point. Designed for 1″ sling swivels with 1″ tab at top and 1 wide strap. Sling has an adjustable length from 30″ to 44″. Sling swivels are not included. We start with premium 7/9 ounce natural vegetable tanned leather and laser engrave the desired design and shape. The edges are then beveled, finished, and slicked with gum tragacanth. The sling is then dyed and finished with a top coat and wax to protect the finish. It is finally assembled with black hardware including a Chicago Screw at the top and a Conway buckle for adjustments. The finish is varied due to natural grain of the leather and hand application of the finish, we will try to get it as close to the piece depicted in the photo as possible. This is a made to order item that takes several days to complete due to drying time. We can make any size, color, design, text, finish or hardware. The location of the adjustable loop can be moved up or down by the 7 holes in the main rifle sling body. The loop is 8 top of braiding to bottom of loop. Total loop is 11 and made from Latigo leather. Top strap is Latigo leather and is 1 1/4 wide and has the quick disconnect swivel installed. And the bottom strap also made from Latigo leather at 1 wide and also has the quick disconnect swivel installed. Adjustments are made by a conway buckle. Straps are black but main body color is a medium brown. The main body is Latigo leather, the same leather used on horse tack. And is not lined. I designed this rifle sling to what I would interpret as the ideal rifle sling. I believe, you’ll be very happy with these rifle slings. This is a vegetable tanned double butt leather that has a mellow temper which makes them perfect for casual belts. They are nearly rectangular in shape except for the semi-circular bottom section and can be cut in either direction to maximize yield. The surface is not heavily finished to allow for a feel that is friendly to the hand and the oil content gives them a two-tone “pull-up” when you bend the leather.
