IMPERIAL GERMAN WWI TRENCH ART GEW 98 MAUSER RIFLE LEATHER SLING STRAP M98 gew98
July 24, 2022
Leather is firm and pliable and flexible. This Mauser Sling Displays Beautifully Fastened and Installed on a WWI Vintage GEW M98 Mauser Rifle when placed onto WW1 GEW 98 Mauser in “straight line, straight across” Parade Position or in Normal Slung Shoulder Carry Position. Installed in straight across “Parade Position” the Mauser leather sling will pass under the Mauser upper sling swivel and fasten nice and (just right) taunt (straight across) to the upper stacking hook. This due to the fact that the trench art buttons are too wide to pass thru the normal upper sling swivel opening. Everything connects 100% properly in normal shoulder slung carry position for terrific GEW 98 display. Sling measurements: From lower sling swivel to mid buckle 29 inches. From lower sling swivel to end of leather at the forward leather turn 34 inches. Mid buckle to leather at the forward turn 5 inches. Underneath the tank disk insignia collar disc, is a slit in the leather rather than a simple pass thru hole for the collar disk stud, leather remains strong there. Some of the trench art buttons appear to be held on with wire others with leather lacing thru the button loops. All of the leather remains supple, firm, and moveable, pliable. Inside spring in the lower metal sling swivel remains sure and strong. Lower swivel is fully functional. No missing trench art buttons. Great Piece of US Doughboy Veteran Bring Back WWI History.
