Indian War Era US Army Model 1873 Springfield Trapdoor Leather Rifle Sling – 4th Pattern. The leather is soft and supple. The leather has darkened with age, dark brown in color. This is the 4th pattern sling with the wide hooks and oval holes. This is an early 4th Pattern one piece leather sling, not one of the more common ones made from two salvaged civil war slings sewn together. There are some surface cracks in the sling and some wrinkling. It has the brass stud. There is an NGP Unit marking on the back side of the sling, see photo..
