Rare! Original WW1 US M1907 Sling For 03 Springfield or M1917 Rock Island 1914

Offered is an original pre-World War One era production United States military issue Model 1907 leather sling made for use with the 1903 Springfield or Model 1917 rifles. This will also fit an M1 Garand. This sling has the brass claws, as is correct for World War One era M1907s. This sling is maker marked Rock Island Arsenal and is dated 1914. It is double inspector marked, with inspector initials below the maker marking and date and separate inspector markings at the end of the sling tab. It is full length and has never been modified or repaired. I have not cleaned, polished, or treated it. The claw rivets are tight. Both original sewn leather keepers are present. These original slings have become difficult to find, as the repros and fakes greatly outnumber the real ones. It is offered as pictured and shows normal wear and checking, but it is completely intact and remains remarkably supple, especially given that it 112 years old. Rock Island M1907s are rare indeed and this is the only 1914 dated M1907 sling that I have owned. Overall, a very good example from a seldom seen maker an a rare date that will display well on your World War One rifle.
