Offered is an original World War Two/pre World War Two era production leather sling manufactured for use with the Deutsches Sportmodell (DSM). 22 Caliber training rifle. This sling is the early “sliding loop” variant. It is full length and has never been modified or repaired. The original sewn leather keeper is present. It is offered as pictured in superb condition and shows very little wear. This is a rare sling in any condition and this one is exceedingly difficult to upgrade.

Swiss K31 K11 leather rifle sling with no makers mark. Likely a surplus item at some point. Sling shows significant wear and age which corresponds with it being a vintage item. No provenance can be ascertained since there are no visible markings present on the sling. Therefore, I relied upon common characteristics of the original Swiss K31 and K11 slings to verify it’s authenticity. Authentic, unissued, or “no markings” Swiss K31 and K11 leather rifle slings are relatively rare. While most original Swiss slings were stamped with the saddler’s maker mark, date, and army acceptance stamp, unmarked authentic slings exist, though many on the market today are quality reproductions. This one is definitely not. Key Features of the Original Design. Heavy-duty, vegetable-tanned cowhide, usually in a rich brown or reddish-brown color. Standard width is typically 1 1/8. Features an original steel or brass quick-detach claw/clip at the front (for the upper barrel band) and a standard sliding buckle for length adjustment.

Offered is an original pre-World War One era production United States military issue Model 1907 leather sling made for use with the 1903 Springfield or Model 1917 rifles. This will also fit an M1 Garand. This sling has the brass claws, as is correct for World War One era M1907s. This sling is maker marked Rock Island Arsenal and is dated 1914. It is double inspector marked, with inspector initials below the maker marking and date and separate inspector markings at the end of the sling tab. It is full length and has never been modified or repaired. I have not cleaned, polished, or treated it. The claw rivets are tight. Both original sewn leather keepers are present. These original slings have become difficult to find, as the repros and fakes greatly outnumber the real ones. It is offered as pictured and shows normal wear and checking, but it is completely intact and remains remarkably supple, especially given that it 112 years old. Rock Island M1907s are rare indeed and this is the only 1914 dated M1907 sling that I have owned. Overall, a very good example from a seldom seen maker an a rare date that will display well on your World War One rifle.

This sling most likely dates to pre-1990’s as Ojala passed in 2005 at age 85, Arvo Ojala was a Hollywood technical advisor on the subject of quick-draw with a revolver. It’s new was given to me as a gift years ago and has been siting in the gun safe unused.
