Authentic M1907 Pattern World War I Brown Leather Rifle Sling Unmarked
Authentic, unmarked M1907 Pattern brown leather rifle slings-originally utilized for the M1903 Springfield and M1 Garand-are rare collectibles. True “unmarked” WWI or WWII specimens typically indicate contract production overruns from private factories (like Boyt or unsightly late-war production) rather than standard military-inspected gear. This rifle sling falls into that category. No visible makers marks or stamps anywhere on the sling. The provenance of this sling relies heavily on the width measurement (1 1/4 inches) with the leather showing aging consistent with it’s age. Because M1907 slings were manufactured by dozens of contractors across both World War I and World War II, authentic “unmarked” slings are entirely legitimate. Many original wartime slings either never received maker or date stamps (like some early WWI contracts) or the stamps have faded from age, wear, or leather conditioning.
