Leather Ching Sling Steyr Scout Rifle
Leather Ching Sling Steyr Scout Rifle. Designed by Eric Ching, a student of Jeff Cooper’s Gun Site Academy, to complement the latter’s scout rifle concept. These modern versions are made by Andy’s Leather. These attach at 3 points, providing a loop that the shooter’s support arm is placed through, making for a very stable shooting platform. Can be fitted to any rifle that has a 3rd attachment point installed in front of the magazine. Goes right on the Steyr Scout. Uses T-shaped swivels that fit flush socket style studs.

Handmade leather “Ching Sling”. The “Ching sling” was designed by Eric Ching and popularized by Jeff Cooper. It enables the shooter to quickly achieve a much more stable shooting position with minimum extra weight. It can be used standing, sitting, crouching, kneeling or in prone positions. Jeff Cooper recommended such for use in his renowned “Scout Rifle” concept. All these slings are made from 1 wide vegetable tanned leather. This leather does require occasional oiling to maintain durability. As they are a three point sling they require an additional swivel. This leather does require occasional oiling to maintain durability. As they are a three point sling they require an additional swivel. The wide version is 1 1/4 wide. It does not have Conway loop (the brass fitting which allows easier adjustments). The leather did not brand well. It should not affect its performance as the area branded is not a stress point.
